Visheshan (विशेषण) (Adjective) are those words, which are used to describe, modify or identify a Sangya (संज्ञा) (Noun) or Sarvanam (सर्वनाम) (Pronoun) in a sentence. In Hindi grammar, visheshan (adjective) precedes the sangya or the sarvanam in the sentence. (For eg: Rajesh ek parishrami ladka hai (राजेश एक परिश्रमी लड़का है।) - Here Parishrami is visheshan).

Visheshan (विशेषण) (Adjective) is categorized into four parts:

1. Gunavachak Visheshan (गुणवाचक विशेषण) (Descriptive Adjective/ Adjective of Quality): It explains the quality, shapes, colors, sizes, feeling, location, time and position of a noun or pronoun. (For eg:  Neela (नीला), Trikon (त्रिकोण), Chota (छोटा), Khushi (ख़ुशी), Weekly (साप्ताहिक), etc.) 

2. Parimanvachak Visheshan (परिमाण वाचक विशेषण) (Adjective of Quantity): It describes the quantity of a noun. It explains the exact quantity of a thing in the sentence. (For eg: 1 kg Chawal (१ Kg चावल), thodi se Chini (थोड़ी सी चीनी), etc.)

3. Sankhyavachak Visheshan (संख्या वाचक विशेषण) (Numeric Adjective): This adjective explains the quantity and number of noun in the sentence. (For eg: 11 Khiladi (११ खिलाडी), 6 kele (६ केले), etc.) 

4. Sarvanmic Visheshan (सार्वनामिक विशेषण) (Demonstrative Adjective): It describes the words used in place of articles so as to point a specific noun. In other words, the pronoun that is used before the noun to explain its qualities are known as sarvanmic visheshan. (For eg: Woh Pahad Dur Se Chota Dikh Raha tha (वो पहाड़ दूर से छोटा दिख रहा था।
